Salary: £24,586 – £26,271 actual per annum (Grade 6, Spinal Point 18–22)
Fixed Term Contract: Maternity cover from 1st February 2026 to 31st January 2027, or until return of post holder
Hours: 32.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm (Term time plus 5 INSET days)
Start Date: 1st February 2027

Are you a resourceful, adaptable educator looking for a dynamic role without the full weight of class teacher responsibilities? An exciting opportunity has arisen at Norton Hill Primary School for a strong Cover Teacher or High Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our passionate team.
This is a varied and rewarding position ideal for a Qualified Teacher (QTS), or an experienced Level 4 HLTA ready to step up. You will play a vital role across all year groups—delivering engaging lessons, covering PPA time, and keeping our busy school running smoothly.
What You Will Do:
Deliver Inspiring Learning: Teach across all primary year groups, seamlessly delivering curriculum content for whole classes, small groups, or 1:1 sessions.
Provide Essential Cover: Step in confidently for PPA time and unexpected staff absences to ensure continuity for pupils.
Enhance the Classroom: Help create stimulating displays, prepare quality learning resources, and support ongoing assessment.
Support the Broader School Community: Accompany exciting school trips, assist with break/lunch duties, and help build a safe, positive environment where every child thrives.
What We Are Looking For:
Qualifications: QTS or a relevant Level 4 HLTA qualification, alongside GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above).
Experience: Proven experience working with primary-aged children in an educational setting.
Key Skills: Strong initiative, excellent communication skills, and proficiency with learning technology.
Mindset: A flexible, "can-do" attitude and the ability to adapt seamlessly to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
