Minehead First School is seeking an inspirational Deputy Headteacher to join our ambitious and caring school community. Minehead First School is a thriving two-form entry first school, serving children aged 2-9 years in the beautiful coastal town of Minehead, West Somerset. Part of the Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership, we were judged Good in all areas by Ofsted in February 2024 and are proud of our inclusive ethos, strong community links and commitment to ensuring every child belongs, discovers and grows.
The Role
This is a challenging, rewarding and pivotal leadership position, w orking closely with the Headteacher, you will:
• Lead and champion high-quality teaching and learning across the school.
• Provide strategic leadership for assessment, pupil progress and achievement.
• Play a leading role in school improvement planning, self-evaluation and quality assurance.
• Support, develop and inspire staff through coaching, mentoring and professional development.
• Monitor teaching, learning, attainment and progress to secure excellent outcomes for all pupils.
• Contribute to the strategic leadership and day-to-day management of the school.
• Promote a culture of ambition, inclusion and high expectations.
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
• Is an excellent classroom practitioner with a proven track record of raising standards.
• Has successful leadership and management experience within a primary school.
• Demonstrates a strong understanding of curriculum, teaching, learning and assessment.
• Has experience of monitoring, coaching and developing staff.
• Has a deep commitment to inclusion and ensuring every child succeeds.
• Can analyse performance information and use it to improve outcomes.
• Is an excellent communicator who can build positive relationships with pupils, families, staff, governors and external agencies.
• Shares our values and commitment to safeguarding, wellbeing and continuous improvement.
• Has Qualified Teacher Status and experience preparing for or undertaking senior leadership responsibilities.
