Salary: Grade 4 Scale Points 7–10 (£27,274 – £28,608 per annum, FTE)
Contract Type: Permanent, Term Time Only + 5 Inset Days
Hours: 30 hours per week, across 5 days

About the Role
Are you a passionate and experienced Teaching Assistant ready to step into a Higher Level role? We are seeking an enthusiastic HLTA to join our team in delivering high-quality, targeted support for students with diverse learning and Special Educational Needs.
Working closely under the guidance of our SENCO and teaching staff, you will take a leading role in running specialised interventions, delivering EHCP requirements, and promoting an inclusive, empowering environment where every pupil can succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver targeted 1:1 and small group interventions, including literacy programs, Lego Therapy, and Speech & Language Therapy (SALT) support sessions.
- Implement pupil EHCP requirements, assist with developing target action plans, and apply tailored strategies based on individual student profiles.
- Support classroom management, create engaging learning displays, assist with activity planning, update pupil progress records, and provide clear feedback to teachers.
- Use varied approaches and ICT tools to boost literacy and numeracy skills, adapting activities dynamically to student responses.
- Build positive relationships, act as a role model, foster pupil self-esteem, encourage peer integration, and assist with supervision during break times or school trips.
What We Are Looking For
Essential:
- Level 2 qualifications in literacy and numeracy (GCSE Grade 4/C or equivalent), plus NVQ Level 2 for Teaching Assistants (or equivalent qualification/experience with DfES TA Induction completion) OR at least 3 years of relevant LSA/TA experience.
- Demonstrable experience working with children, running specialised intervention strategies for pupils with complex needs, and working under general supervision.
- Strong ICT skills to support learning and administrative tasks (e.g., Google Suite, data entry).
- Ability to build strong relationships with both children and adults, with a good understanding of child development, welfare, and classroom dynamics.
Desirable:
- First Aid qualification.
- Formal training in SEN strategies or basic literacy/numeracy intervention programs.
- General understanding of the National Curriculum and relevant codes of practice.
