Salary: £31,537-£33,699 per anum, pro rata (Grade: 6 SCP 18 – 22)
Actual salary: £27,095-£28,953 per annum
Working hours: 37 hours per week during term time

The Role
Hayesfield Girls’ School is seeking a skilled and compassionate HLTA to join our Learning Support team. Working with our SENDCo, you will take responsibility for agreed SEN learning activities, including planning and delivering interventions for individuals or groups, and occasionally supervising whole classes short-term. Uniquely, you will also line-manage and appraise a team of Teaching Assistants, helping to shape our specialist SEN provision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Specialist SEN Support: Implement tailored strategies based on student profiles to accelerate progress, inclusion, and independence.
- Intervention Delivery: Plan and deliver targeted learning objectives, with a strong focus on improving core literacy and numeracy skills.
- Assessment & Feedback: Track student progress systematically, providing objective feedback to teachers and participating in parent review meetings.
- Line Management: Manage a team of Teaching Assistants, leading on their work allocation, team meetings, induction, and annual appraisals.
- Short-Term Cover: Supervise whole classes or tutor groups during a teacher's brief absence, maintaining excellent order and high expectations.
Requirements
Essential Requirements
- Qualifications: Attainment of HLTA standards OR Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Strong basic education in GCSE English and Maths.
- Expertise: Specialist training in learning strategies or SEN areas (e.g., dyslexia, autism, literacy/numeracy frameworks).
- Leadership: Proven ability to organize, motivate, and line-manage a team of support staff effectively.
- Experience: Clear understanding of secondary-age education and statutory SEN frameworks.
- Attributes: A calm, professional manner with excellent communication skills and the physical capability to support active learning environments.
