Role: Information and Governance Officer

Location: Trust Head Office, Knobsbury Lane, Writhlington, Radstock

Start Date: 1st September 2026 (an earlier start date can be negotiated by mutual agreement)

Closing Date: 24th June 2026 9am

Interview Date: 1st July 2026

Hours: 37 per week, Monday - Thursday 8:30am - 4:30pm and Friday 8:30am - 4:00pm , term time, plus 5 inset days and 2 additional weeks in the school holidays

Salary: Grade 6 and scale point range 18 - 22, £16.35 - £17.47, full time equivalent £31,557 - £33,699 (actual annual salary £28,547 - £30,504)

The Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership is seeking an exceptional Information Governance Officer to join our Central Team. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly organised, detail-oriented professional to play a pivotal role in ensuring excellence in governance, admissions compliance, data protection and statutory processes across our growing Trust.

Working closely with the Trust Governance Professional and Trust leadership teams, you will provide expert support and guidance to governors, trustees, school leaders and clerks, helping to ensure that our governance arrangements remain effective, compliant and responsive to the evolving educational landscape.

About the Role

As Information Governance Officer, you will lead on the operational management and continuous development of governance frameworks, information management processes, admissions compliance and data protection coordination across the Trust.

This varied and rewarding role will see you:

  • Advise on governance best practice, statutory requirements and procedural compliance.
  • Support the recruitment, induction, development and succession planning of governors and trustees.
  • Coordinate governance training, networks and professional development opportunities.
  • Provide high-quality clerking support for executive panels, hearings and governance meetings.
  • Manage governance audits, compliance reviews and reporting processes.
  • Oversee admissions consultation processes and ensure compliance with the School Admissions Code.
  • Coordinate Freedom of Information Requests (FOIs) and Subject Access Requests (SARs).
  • Support the Trust's Data Protection Officer and Data Breach Officer in strengthening information governance processes.
  • Contribute to the onboarding and integration of new schools joining the Trust.
  • Monitor emerging legislative and regulatory developments and provide timely advice to senior leaders.

You will have:

Essential Requirements

  • GCSE English and Mathematics (Grade 4/C or above, or equivalent).
  • Experience working within a busy administrative or office environment.
  • Experience supporting committees or formal meetings, including agenda preparation and minute-taking.
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong digital skills, including Google Workspace and administrative systems.
  • Knowledge of data protection requirements, including FOIs and SARs, or the ability to develop this expertise.
  • The ability to build effective professional relationships across a range of stakeholders.
  • A flexible, solution-focused approach and the ability to manage competing priorities.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience working within education, governance, or a Multi-Academy Trust environment.
  • Knowledge of academy governance, charity law, company law and the Academy Trust Handbook.
  • Experience developing policies, procedures, or operational processes.
  • A Level qualifications or above.
  • A willingness to undertake the Level 3 Certificate in the Clerking of School and Academy Governing Boards (or equivalent).
