About the role

Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership is looking for a highly organised, proactive and customer-focused IT Services Administrator to join our Central IT Team. As the first point of contact for IT support, you will play a key role in delivering an efficient, professional service to colleagues across the Trust. Working closely with the IT Service Delivery Manager, Director of IT and wider IT team, you will support the day-to-day operation of the IT service and help ensure requests and incidents are managed effectively.

Key responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for the Central IT Helpdesk, logging, triaging and routing incidents and service requests.
  • Monitor tickets, escalations and SLAs, ensuring users receive clear and timely updates.
  • Maintain IT assets, stock, licence, warranty and contract records.
  • Coordinate equipment movements, hardware audits and central IT stock.
  • Raise purchase orders, process goods received and support invoice and finance administration.
  • Liaise with suppliers regarding orders, repairs, warranties and contracts.
  • Provide administrative support to the Director of IT and IT Service Delivery Manager.
  • Coordinate onboarding for new IT staff and maintain IT policies, procedures and guidance.
  • Produce service reports and support meetings, projects and operational planning.
  • Provide administrative cover and coordination support during periods of leadership absence.

About you

You will have:

  • ITIL Foundation, FITS Practitioner certification or relevant industry experience.
  • At least two years' experience in an IT service environment.
  • Experience of administration, customer service or helpdesk support.
  • Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with procurement, asset management and supplier relationships.
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively in a busy environment.
  • A proactive, professional and customer-focused approach.
  • A current UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for occasional travel between Trust sites.
  • Experience within education or a multi-site organisation, and knowledge of systems such as Arbor or SIMS, would be desirable.

There are many advantages to working for us including 26 days’ annual leave (rising to 31 after 5 years service) plus bank holidays (pro rata), access to a government pension scheme, sick pay scheme, cycle-to-work scheme, free eye tests for VDU users and employee assistance helpline. Support staff in schools can also benefit from a range of national discount schemes available to education professionals such as the Blue Light Card offering savings on shopping, travel, and leisure.

We encourage early applications as we reserve the right to close the vacancy prior to the closing date if we receive sufficient applications for the role.
