School Cleaner - Required December 2026
Permanent, all year round contract @ £13.28 per hour
Salary range: £25,614 - £26,016
11.25 hrs per week (Actual salary pro rata range - £7,788 - £7,910)
Term Time: Monday - Friday 3.30pm – 5.45pm
School holiday hours can be completed anytime when the school is open - school opens from 7.00am-4.30pm (4.00pm on Fridays)
We are seeking energetic and detail-oriented Cleaners to join our dynamic team! In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across the site. Your efforts will ensure that our spaces are hygienic, organised, and inviting for staff, students, and visitors alike. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a professional setting where cleanliness directly impacts overall experience and safety.
Responsibilities:
- Perform thorough cleaning of floors, surfaces, toilets, and common areas using appropriate cleaning tools and supplies
- Ensure all areas are sanitized according to health and safety standards
- Restock supplies such as paper towels, soap, and cleaning products to maintain operational readiness
- Handle waste disposal efficiently and responsibly in designated bins and recycling stations
- Maintain equipment cleanliness and report any malfunctions or damages promptly
- Follow established cleaning schedules and procedures to ensure consistency and quality
- Assist with special cleaning projects or deep cleans as needed to uphold high standards of hygiene
- To use all cleaning materials and equipment in a safe and proper manner in accordance with the instructions and procedures determined by the Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership.
- Complete all appropriate records and documentation as required.
- Complete online training as required.
- To ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety and security regulations.
- Carry out such other duties as are required, and as are commensurate with the grade of the post.
Requirements:
- Prior commercial cleaning experience is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided
- Strong attention to detail with a proactive approach to cleanliness
- Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Good physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks such as sweeping, mopping, lifting, and bending
- Nice-to-have skills include experience in hotel housekeeping, commercial cleaning, or related fields such as cooking or customer service that demonstrate reliability and service orientation
- Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude are essential for collaborating with team members and supporting a welcoming environment
